In addition to correcting problems we may be born with, plastic surgery can also help with conditions that develop as we age. They can be inherited, or due to damage or abuse. The Damage is obvious such as: Laugh lines. Worry lines. Frown lines. Grooves, wrinkles, creases, and crow's feet. Bags, pouches and folds. Excess skin that sags.
All this eventually changes the shape and characteristics of your face. It can make you look old, tired and unhappy even when that's not how you feel. But There's a Lot You Can Do About It Loose skin can be made tighter. Wrinkles can be smoothed out. Bags, pouches, creases and lines can be eliminated. Noses, chins and cheeks can be made smaller or larger to complement your face. Droopy eyebrows and sagging eyelids can be elevated and brightened. Excess skin and fatty tissue can be removed.
The facelift is perhaps the most famous procedure in plastic surgery. The myth is many people think a facelift makes you look plastic and unnatural. They think facelifts are only for the rich and famous. But that is untrue. Today's technologically improved procedures can absolutely work wonders. Instead of looking as if they "got lifted," they simply look radiant, refreshed and younger.
The facelift as performed under "twilight" anesthesia as an outpatient procedure and takes approximately two to three hours. We begin with an incision behind the hairline, which extends in natural skin creases down and around the ear and then back into the hair-bearing scalp behind the ear. This incision is designed for maximum camouflage. A tiny incision is also made under the chin to allow fat removal and muscle tightening in the neck. After elevating the skin from the underlying tissues, liposculpturing techniques are used to remove excess facial fatty deposits.
The deeper layers of lax tissues are then tightened — which is why longer lasting and more natural results are possible. Finally comes the excess skin. We take great care to make sure the skin is made taut, but not over tightened.
Together, the tightened muscles and removal of excess skin and fat will diminish and often remove creases, lines, and folds and restore the younger natural contours of your face. Your jaw line, cheekbones, and neck will become more defined and attractive as they regain their youthful, firm appearance.
We can perform a facelift alone or in conjunction with other procedures such as eyelid surgery, forehead lift, nose refinement, or laser skin-resurfacing. When receiving a facelift, most patients will combine it with one or more smaller procedures to help minimize the overall recovery period.
Recovery is surprisingly quick and usually pain-free. There is some bruising and swelling, and usually five days of wearing a bandage that you'll have to put up with. Most patients are back to work and their normal activities within two weeks of the procedure — looking and feeling younger, too.
Minimal Facelift
Many younger patients want to undergo a smaller facelift which will provide significant midfacial and jaw line tightening while using a much smaller incision. This procedure, often called the "S-Lift", utilizes an incision very well camouflaged in front of the ear and hairline. This operation is ideal for treating patients in the thirties and forties and helping in the maintenance of one's youthful appearance.
It is often performed using tumescent technique that frequently eliminates bruising and speeds recovery dramatically, often having one back to work in just one week.
More than any other facial feature, the eyes have a tremendous impact on your appearance. For many, it can be a negative impact. Your eyes are often the first place to show the signs of aging. This is because the skin around the eyes is the thinnest on your face with fewer oil glands and weaker internal support. External factors that affect aging around eyes include hereditary factors, sun damage, stress, and fatigue.
Surgery of the eyelids (blepharoplasty) can remove bags, fat pouches, and excess skin from under and over the eyes.
The eyelid surgery usually takes about one hour, is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, and is done as an outpatient procedure. Upper lidincisions are always made in the depths of the natural skin crease in order to make their visibility minimal.
Lower lidsurgery can be done in one of two ways. When excess skin is to be removed, a fine incision is made at the lid's edge - just below the eyelashes. Then, excess fat and skin are trimmed away and fine sutures are used to close the incision.
In cases where only excess fat is to be removed a tiny incision is made through the conjunctiva — the internal membrane behind the lid (transconjunctival blepharoplasty). Excess fat is removed allowing the lid to become smooth — and no sutures are even needed for closure.
No bandages are applied after eyelid surgery, and sutures, when they are used, are usually removed within four days. Any swelling and bruising can be minimized by keeping cold compresses on your eyes. Most of our patients are up and around one or two days after the procedure and usually return to work in a week or even less.
Latest Technique-Fat preserving technique for lower eyelid surgery aims at remodeling & replacing the fat from where it herniated. This procedure is appealing because it epitomizes the goal of aesthetic surgery—to restore the youthful ideal by reversing the structural changes of aging.
For centuries, high cheekbones have been considered an essential ingredient of beauty. Cheek augmentation can give beautiful, prominent, high cheekbones. The procedure can be performed in several different ways. In one approach, working through either the inside of the mouth, or the lower eyelid, we place a specially contoured implant over the cheekbone to create higher looking cheekbones.
If you have a hollow or sunken area beneath your cheeks, implants can be used there to help fill out your face.
Another approach involves taking your own fat tissue from your abdomen or any other area and injecting it over your cheekbone. This procedure is not always permanent, and on occasion, will require repeating.
Other procedures to improve the contours of the face are frequently performed at the same time — such as chin augmentation, liposuction of the neck and jaw line, and removal of the buccal fat pad. To decide which procedure is best for you, schedule a consultation with us to discuss your options.
Most people who could benefit from a chin augmentation don't even know it - because they never see themselves in profile. Whether in a mirror or in a picture, we typically view ourselves only face-forward. Many patients elect chin surgery after they see a photograph that caught them in profile. When the chin is undersized, it affects the entire face. It makes the nose look larger and more conspicuous.
A double chin will result because the jaw is too short. The procedure, chin augmentation, is quick and the results are permanent. It can enlarge and improve the contour of almost any undersized or receding chin.
In this procedure, we make a small incision inside the mouth and create a small pocket just in front of the chin bone. A special pre-formed chin implant is precisely placed in this pocket where it will remain firmly in position. This incision is closed with a few absorbable sutures, so they don't have to be removed.
It can be done under local anesthesia or with sedation on a day care basis. There is some soreness after this procedure, but the medications provided will control it. You'll be up and around the same day as your surgery and back to work in just a few days. This procedure provides immediate and effective results that can last a lifetime.
Most people who think their ears are too big have the wrong idea. The problem usually isn't that their ears are too big, but just that they stick out too much. In most cases, reshaping and repositioning them closer to the head solves the problem completely. Ears that overly protrude make kids a target for teasing, jokes and derogatory nicknames.
This procedure can be done as early as age four or five in children (before school starts) and, of course, at any time for adults.
In adults, we perform this procedure on an outpatient basis using local anesthesia with sedation. Children need general anesthesia. A well-concealed incision is placed behind the ear. Through this approach, the cartilage is reshaped and sometimes excess cartilage removed.
Reshaping with permanent sutures gives the ears a better contour and realigns them closer to the head in a more pleasing position. These incisions are closed with dissolvable stitches. Then the ears are covered with a dressing that will remain in place for about five days.
Post-operative discomfort is minimal and easily controlled with prescribed medications. Patients who have this procedure are usually up and around the same or next day, and return to work or school within a week. It is necessary to protect the ears during sleep hours with a headband for a few weeks after surgery.
Browlift (Forehead Lift): A forehead lift or "browlift" is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad or tired.
The Best Candidates For a Forehead Lift : A forehead lift is most commonly performed in the 40-60 age range to minimize the visible effects of aging. However, it can also help people of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress or muscle activity. Individuals with inherited conditions, such as a low, heavy brow or furrowed lines above the nose can achieve a more alert and refreshed look with this procedure. Forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with a facelift and or Eyelid surgery.
Remember, a forehead lift can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change your looks to match your ideal or cause other people to treat you differently.
Complications are rare and usually minor when a forehead lift is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. Yet, the possibility of complications must be considered.
The classic forehead lift :For most patients, a coronal incision will be used. It follows a headphone-like pattern, starting at about ear level and running across the top of the forehead and down the other side of the head. The incision is usually made well behind the hairline so that the scar won't be visible. In patients who are bald or losing hair, a mid-scalp incision that follows the natural pattern of the skull bones is sometimes recommended.
Working through the incision, the skin of the forehead is carefully lifted so that the underlying tissue can be removed and the muscles of the forehead can be altered or released. The eyebrows may also be elevated and excess skin at the incision point will be trimmed away to help create a smoother, more youthful appearance.
The incision is then closed with stitches or clips. Although some plastic surgeons do not use any dressings, your doctor may choose to cover the incision with gauze padding and wrap the head in an elastic bandage.
The endoscopic forehead lift : Typically, an endoscopic forehead lift requires the same preparation steps as the traditional procedure. However, rather than making one long coronal incision, your surgeon will make three, four or five short scalp incisions, each less than an inch in length. An endoscope, which is a pencil-like camera device connected to a television monitor, is inserted through one of the incisions, allowing the surgeon to have a clear view of the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. Using another instrument inserted through a different incision, the forehead skin is lifted and the muscles and underlying tissues are removed or altered to produce a smoother appearance. The eyebrows may also be lifted and secured into their higher position by sutures beneath the skin's surface or by temporary fixation screws placed behind the hairline.
When the lift is complete, the scalp incisions will be closed with stitches or clips and the area will be washed. Gauze and an elastic bandage may also be used, depending on your surgeon's preference.
Although you should be up and about in a day or two, plan on taking it easy for at least the first week after surgery. You should be able to shower and shampoo your hair within two days, or as soon as the bandage is removed. Most patients are back to work or school in a week to 10 days. Endoscopic patients may feel ready to return even sooner.
Endoscopic Mid face lift :In this procedure small incisions are placed in the temporal hair bearing area and with the help of endoscope the sagging facial tissue is lifted and anchored to deep temporal fascia. This procedure avoids any face life incisions.

Hair replacement surgery can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but the results won't necessarily match your ideal.
It's important to understand that all hair replacement techniques use your existing hair. The goal of surgery is to find the most efficient uses for existing hair.
Hair replacement candidates must have healthy hair growth at the back and sides of the head to serve as donor areas. Donor areas are the places on the head from which grafts and flaps are taken.
Transplant techniques, such as punch grafts, mini-grafts, micro-grafts, slit grafts, and strip grafts are generally performed on patients who desire a more modest change in hair fullness. Flaps, tissue-expansion and scalp-reduction are procedures that are usually more appropriate for patients who desire a more dramatic change.
Hair replacement surgery, no matter what technique is used, is usually performed using a local anesthesia along with sedation to make you relaxed and comfortable. Your scalp will be insensitive to pain, but you may be aware of some tugging or pressure.
Microfollicular hair transplantation
Hair transplantation involves removing small pieces of hair-bearing scalp grafts from a donor site and relocating them to a bald or thinning area. Grafts differ by size and shape. Round-shaped punch grafts usually contain about 10-15 hairs. The much smaller mini-graft contains about two to four hairs; and the micro-graft, one to two hairs. Slit grafts, which are inserted into slits created in the scalp, contain about four to10 hairs each; strip grafts are long and thin and contain 30-40 hairs.
Generally, several surgical sessions may be needed to achieve satisfactory fullness-and a healing interval of several months is usually recommended between each session. It may take up to two years before you see the final result with a full transplant series.
FUE hair transplant (Follicular Unit Extraction)
FUE hair transplants, or follicular unit extraction procedures are another alternative for hair restoration surgery. With FUE hair transplants, instead of whole strip of hair bearing skin small grafts are extracted. A special surgical instrument small enough to extract one single follicular unit at a time is used in this technique. The results are the same natural results as a normal strip procedure, but with very little bleeding, no visible scar formation and less recovery time for patients.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is ideal for patients who wish to wear their hair very short or are afraid of surgery.
Advantages of FUE hair transplant
Having an FUE procedure has its advantages as it is more comfortable during the healing period, and activities can be resumed in less time. Complete healing from a follicular unit extraction procedure is about 5 to 7 days, compared to two weeks for the traditional hair transplant.
Disadvantages of FUE hair transplant
One of the major disadvantages of FUE procedure is that it is time consuming, and a limited number of follicular units can be harvested in the donor area per session. That is not the case with a normal strip hair transplant where we can take as much as 5,000 grafts per session. For FUE hair transplants, the average amount of grafts extracted in a single day may vary from 800 to 1,500. If more grafts are needed, the use of more than one session is suggested.
PUNCH HAIR MATIC ®
It is the third generation of hair transplantation device, developed only for Follicular Unit Extraction technique (F.U.E) with precise micro grafting surgery.
The PUNCH HAIR MATIC is a patented robot using micro-instruments to remove follicular units, which makes surgery simpler, faster, and less debilitating for the patient, with more convincing aesthetic results.
The hairs taken — one, two or even three at a time, depending on the size of punches chosen — are immediately sucked up into a sterile catheter and transferred to a small hand-piece that pushes the hair into a small reception orifice (also called recipient site ) by simple pressure.
A complete session of 700 grafts can be performed by one doctor with one assistant in two hours only.
Sagging of the middle part of the face can cause under eye hollowness, malar saging and deepening of groove on the sides of the nose and mouth. It can occur in the early forties.
A simple technique of lifting this malar pad of fat and repositioning it can improve the appearance dramatically. It can be performed surgically through an incision in the temple area or through lower eyelid crease at the time of eyelid surgery.
RHINOPLASTY is the most popular plastic surgery procedure in the world. An experienced surgeon with a keen sense of aesthetics can modify and improve virtually any aspect of your nose. Nasal refinement (rhinoplasty) can reduce the overall size, improve the tip, remove a bump, widen or narrow the width, straighten a crooked nose or even improve the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Generally, any or all of the above changes can be made during one operation, working from inside the nose.
After surgery, a small plastic splint is placed on the nose to maintain the new shape and to protect it. This splint usually remains on for five days. You'll be up and around a day or two after surgery, and any discomfort you might feel can easily be controlled by medication.
Bruising around the eyes sometimes occurs, and we provide medications to reduce bruising and speed its disappearance. If it does occur, it is usually gone in about a week. Most people return to work within a week after nasal surgery, using makeup if there is any residual bruising. There will be subtle swelling of the nose that subsides over time. Your complete and final result may not be realized for weeks or even months, but you will see improvement within one week. Remember, the idea is not to create a new nose, but rather to improve the one that you have. Dr. Sanjay invites you to call today to schedule your in-office consultation.
